Lophocereus

The genric name comes from two parts, lophos means the stems have a crest of bristly spines & cerei meaning freely branching columnar cacti.

They're found in north-western Mexico to south-western US & often in sandy areas. Due to the location, they survive in high temperatures.

The stems are light-green with the flowers going from white to dark red.

I'm fairly confident that the name for this cactus is Lophocereus schottii monstrose. Needless to say, I haven't had it for too long as it should become much higher in time.
