Sempervivum
In the wild their location covers a large area from Europe to eastern Asia & also northern Africa. They're used in gardens in Europe & also colder states in the US. When speaking of coldness & also hotness, they can cope temperatures down to -18 to 38 degrees Centigrade.
As for the flowers, they're monocarpic, which means flowering once & then they die.
Graeme gave me Sempervivum arachnoideum for a birthday present & it's still clustering. As seen the plant has lots of white hair growing between the leaves.
It's original habitat was around the Alps.
