'Admiral' Gunboat Competition III

August Update

Big thanks to those who wished Sally & me the best. We had a great day & something that will be remembered by not only us but also Sally's Mum & Nan, my parents & Graeme. For our Honeymoon, we spent a few days in the Cotswolds. Soon I'll write a few lines & put them together with some pix on the site.

As for the Quarter-Finals, not all have finished but albeit in two-weeks, they will.

Once the Semis' S01 have been adjudicated, the End Game Statement (EGS), for the Quarters, will be shown on site plus the real-names of those who didn't make it through to the Semis. Regarding the real-names of those that did make it, you'll not get to know their names until the Final game, Good Hope, shows its EGS.

As said before, please write your EGS & e-mail it to your GM. If time is an essence, just remember a few short lines will be good enough especially if you include a thanks to your GM.

As mentioned in an earlier Monthly Update, Franz Joseph, who won the game Pisa, felt that due to non-Diplomacy things he could have to leave the Competition. Thankfully, we got good news from him & hence he will be playing in the Semis. To the person who ends up being the 25th 2nd placed player, I'm sorry especially as before now, it seemed you'd play in the Semis.

For the games' I'm again using different coloured font. If it's the same as this, it means the game finished before July's Monthly Update. Dark Teal means it's finished in August & if red, it's still being played.

One thing to mention, when I write the countries that go through, if the game was a draw, the first shown had the higher SC than the other country. As for the draw, that is irrelevant but I felt I'll write it like that in case you wanted to know.

Austria-Hungary won the game. England is in the Semis.

Germany gets 21SCs. This is where we thought Austria-Hungary would go through, & actually said it, but going back to the earlier comments, I’m again very sorry that is isn’t happening.

A/F/G/I gets a four-way. Austria-Hungary & France move through to the Semis.

Germany wins & Turkey goes with them.

A five-way draw enjoyed by E/F/G/I/T. The Wicked Witches go through (T = 13SC – E = 10SC).

A/E/F/R gets a four-way draw but only England & France goes through.

England wins & Germany joins them in the Semis.

To those that were not involved in 'Admiral' I & II, the results of the Quarters, in III, are very different to the previous Competitions. When all have finished, I'll be adding the Quarters to the Gunboat Endings & that will show what I mean.

Moving away from Diplomacy, for too long I've been getting too many SPAM e-mails & for the last few weeks I've been getting about 100 SPAM e-mail per day. When I was speaking to a fellow runner from Sudbury Joggers, he told me of a program that he is running, SPAMfighter. I went to the site & downloaded the program.
