'Admiral' Gunboat Competition III

February Update

To those unaware, each month I send an 'Admiral' III Update. The Update will include a variety of things plus a brief run-down of all games. If you have something you would like me to include, e-mail me (but not about the Scottish rugby results, especially if you're Italian ).

In 'Admiral' I & II, the Update was simply an e-mail to all players in the Competition however, I'm now not just going to send it but also create a page on the site (ALB & GSB) then copy & paste this e-mail to that page. The reason behind that is some IP servers are causing a few headaches & with this shown on the site, with luck all will be able to read it.

Regarding the headaches, to me Hotmail is a problem but to others, it can be them or AOL or both. In addition, there are others so to give you a few examples, you'll understand. When I'm GMing, if a player uses a Hotmail account, the changes are that they don't receive the e-mailed adjudication as that has an attached map. Regarding Doug Stewart, he tried a number of times to send e-mails to players who use AOL accounts. All these e-mails failed. His only way was asking me to send them. Thankfully, the players told Doug & me of their other addresses.

Another think that often happens to me is that when receiving orders, my server writes SPAM in the Subject. I do use Outlook Express & that program doesn't separate e-mails however some people do use programs that do separate e-mails & therefore puts any e-mail that has SPAM shown in their junk file & hence it isn't read. If you use programs like that, see if you can do anything that doesn’t block any 'Admiral' e-mails.

One thing to do is keep this Web address:
http://alb-gsb.com/diplomacy/games/games.htm

That link takes you to the Game's page on ALB & GSB. If you feel you haven't heard from your GM, click on that link & then to your game. You'll be able to see if you have missed adjudication & if so, write to your GM & if you wish, Cc me. To players in the games I'm GMing, below you'll see the back-up person for those games.

Now to the games & below you'll see the names of the games, the last adjudicated season, the GM & in brackets, the back-up GM. Under the name, you'll see the countries & the number of SCs they own. If you do see a game with S02 beside it, remember the number of SCs is based on A01 not S02. If you're lost with that, ask your GM.

http://alb-gsb.com/diplomacy/stats/gunboatopens.htm

In closing, I know this is a long e-mail but I hope you did get something of use.
