'Admiral' Gunboat Competition III

March Update

The following link takes you to 'Admiral' intro page on the site, ALB & GSB:
http://www.alb-gsb.com/diplomacy/admiral/admiral.htm

As the Subject explains, the Semis have finished & below you'll see the outcome of the games.

May I say to all players, in the Semis, two things. The first is to remind you about writing your End Game Statement (EGS) & let me have it ASAP. The second comment is a big thanks for perhaps not what you're thinking. Without going through all Semis in 'Admiral' I & II the number of Anarchies, in III, was greatly under those in the other Competitions. To add to that, in III, we had 7 Semis whereas I had 4 & II had 6 Semis. To those that sadly did go into Anarchy, I did get a good excuse.

I know some of you might think about why don't I change tack on Anarchy & therefore allow other players to take over a country that goes into that unfortunate area but in my reply, go back to a previously written Monthly Update as all is explained in that.

Regarding the Final game, Good Hope, the players were sent an e-mail in which I said the game is about to start. Perhaps in a day or two they'll get the Gamestart & like all other rounds the Deadline's will be weekly but for S01 I'll give it a couple of weeks as some of them had their Semi finishing a month or two ago.

Semis

Cap Trafalgar - A11
France - 2. Germany - 13. Turkey - 19.

Hayreddin Barbarossa - A12
Austria-Hungary - 4. England - 4. France - 5. Germany - 3. Russia - 18.

Jean Bart - A10
Austria-Hungary - 3. France - 18. Germany - 1. Italy - 11. Russia - 1.

Pamiat Azova - A10
England - 10. France - 7. Russia - 1. Turkey - 16.
As the Rules state, no player can submit an End Game Proposal (EGP) but the GM can & I did in this game as the four leaders created a stalemate line therefore it ended in a four-way draw & as Abd al-Hamid II had the higher number of SCs, through he goes.

Queen Mary - A12
Germany - 16. Italy - 10. Turkey - 8.
Three-way draw with Wilhelm II moving on.

San Giorgio - A10
England - 9. Italy - 7. Russia - 18.

Szent Istvan - A12
Austria-Hungary - 10. France - 18. Germany - 1. Turkey - 5.

It's pleasing to see solos & 5 out of 7 was very good. Let's hope we get a solo in Good Hope.

Miscellaneous

I get to know certain events that will or may happen & one of them was an e-mail from Jérémie Lefrancois (Stabbeurfou's Webmaster). He is planning a standard Diplomacy Tournament with the start date, if enough players, in Sept '08. Details Web address is:
http://www.stabbeurfou.org/docs/regles/en/PresentationMansion_en.html
(Jérémie, I'm very unlikely to register as I've got too many things in the pipe-line).

ManorCon 2008 will be held at Stamford Hall, University of Leicester between 2pm Friday 25th July - 2pm Monday 28th July. Web Addr:

As for the World Masters '04 Final, JW (yeah, he did GM some Quarter-Finals in 'Admiral') GMd it & the game together with the EGS can be see on:

Anyway, back to Good Hope & soon the players will get Pre-Spring 1901.
