Modern Jive

As said earlier, Modern Jive was designed just over twenty years ago. Even though it's not the same style as Jive most people call it that as it's easier to say it.

40s at Nth Weald Airport, Essex. Most dancers learn Jive & often a few move off at a tangent to other forms, such as Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, etc. It's also true that dancers who start with the different style are able to pick-up Jiving.

I started in Jan '99 & enjoyed it therefore I'm still doing it. It helped keep me fit but the main part is the amount of people I've met through it including my Sally, who became, my wife.

Various dance clubs are around but I tend to use just four of them. You can dance every night of the week & also go to Jive weekends. Needless to say, friends have had parties & Jiving was the main part of dancing. Some of those have been based in the 40s & hence the clothes are similar to that & if you can see the picture, you can see it.

Where to Jive is a list of those places my friends & I've danced at. It includes places to go for a weekend, holidays, lessons & also where to Jive the night away. I'm aware that many clubs are available in Britain but I'm also aware that there are many clubs throughout the world. In '99, I was staying with my brother in New Jersey. I didn't go but I could have done so in Manhattan.
