Below are links to sites that are related to long distance running.


Sudbury Joggers Sudbury Joggers is a road running club. On Wednesday's it meets at the Sudbury Sports Centre in Tudor Road at 7.15pm for a 7.25pm jog.


Dublin Marathon is to be my first marathon. It's on 30th October 2006 which is a Bank Holiday in that country. Dublin Marathon


Mersea Island Athletic Races
On the 27th August 2006 I ran in the 10 mile run at West Mersea. The last time I ran a 10 miles was some 25 years ago. Mersea Island Lions do organise annual Mersea Island Athletic Races.


Grunty Fen Half-Marathon is held at Witchford, Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. This race is fast as the ground is flat. I'm running in it on the 10th September 2006 & the last time I ran a half-marathon was 24 years ago.


London Marathon Edinburgh Marathon state this on their site. "26.2 miles of inspiration - An ancient castle, a beautiful coastline, an extinct volcano, a royal palace, an amazing place"!


Cardiff Marathon & Half Marathon is a Barnardo’s Cymru led event in partnership with Cardiff County Council and the South Wales Echo. London Marathon


Loch Ness Marathon Loch Ness Marathon is run in beautiful scenery & ends alongside the Loch.


London Marathon is run in late April. WellChild announced as the Official Charity of the 2007 Flora London Marathon. London Marathon


Runner's World UK Runner's World UK is the UK's largest running magazine. Many of its articles are reproduced on their site.


Belfast Marathon offers a wide range of races from marathon, fun run, wheelchair, walks, etc. Belfast Marathon


Snowdonia Marathon is backed by National Trust. The aim is to raise donations to Snowdonia Appeal so that there is repairing footpaths on the mountains and restoring dry stone walls.


South of England Athletic Association South of England Athletic Association is intended to provide a focal point of information about our sport, for both experienced participants and newcomers. In the South of England territory, which extends from Cornwall to Norfolk, there are some 68,000 active athletes within about 570 clubs.


Amsterdam Marathon has links to a number of languages. It doesn't come as any surprise that this is a flat course which helps fast runners. It starts & ends in the Olympic Stadium. Amsterdam Marathon


Suffolk County Athletic Association Suffolk County Athletic Association is the governing body of athletics within the county of Suffolk under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic Association.


Frank Shorter won the gold medal for the marathon in the 1972 Olympics at Munich. He got silver in 1976 in Montreal & has acheived a good number of awards.

Halstead Marathon is the closest marathon from Sudbury. I've been told that there are plently of hills within this course.

Marathon Des Sables The Marathon Des Sables is a 6 day, 151 mile (243km) endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco, normally taking place at the end of March or the beginning of April.


Everest Marathon
Everest Marathon is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest marathon in the world. The start line is at Gorak Shep 5184m (17,000 feet), close to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The finish is at the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar at 3446m (11,300 feet) and the course is a measured 42 km (26.2 miles) over rough mountain trails. It is the world's most spectacular race and has been held eleven times since 1987.


Robin Hood Marathon is run in September & as the name suggests, it's in Nottingham. The marathon, half marathon & wheelchair half marathon have slightly different starting times but not by too much. Robin Hood Marathon


Dartmoor Vale Marathon The Dartmoor Vale Marathon has four races, the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 Kilometre and Fun Run, based as before at Newton Abbot Racecourse.


Jungle Marathon is run around the Amazon. There are two distances to chose from; 200km or 100km. Jungle Marathon


New York Marathon The first New York Marathon was run in 1970 with the route being around Central Park. As a result of celebrating the US bicentennial, 1976, the route was changed & goes through the five boroughs.


Sydney Marathon's route does have runners jogging over the bridge. Sydney Marathon


North Pole Marathon The first North Pole Marathon runners' overcome the extreme sub-zero temperatures to finish 26.2 miles in one of the remotest parts of the planet.


Great Treadmill and Running Challenge allows you to monitor your improvement over a number of distances from one mile to the marathon. Some distances that are pre-set will give you the opportunity to measure yourself against runners from all over the world. Great Treadmill and Running Challenge
