Loaches
Like catfish, they quickly gulp for air at the surface. Loaches are shy & nocturnal, hence only one type I've got isn't really nocturnal. They have barbels to help them seek food.

In wild the Clown Loaches (Botia macracantha) reach 13" but in a tank about 6". Their usual habitat is in Sumatra, Borneo & the Sunda Islands. Even though they can be shy, they are a 'happy-go-lucky' fish & often do odd things such as lying on their sides & making odd noises when eating. I hear the noise for the first time & it took me a while to realise is was they. They enjoy bloodworms & can break the shells of snails. Whenever you change the water, make sure you add chemicals to counter-act white spot. |
